Looks Like Final Fantasy XI Mobile is Cancelled

Over the last few years, Square Enix has been incredibly tight-lipped about the Final Fantasy XI remake for mobile, but there were mentions of it from Nexon (A company helping to develop the game). It showed up in Nexon’s quarterly reports, and images of its development have surfaced over time, so we know it was being worked on. However, the game has dropped in priority for the company over the last few quarterly reports. In the past, news about the game has come from the blog of a South Korean developer working on the project. This time, an article claiming Nexon has cancelled the Final Fantasy 11 mobile remake has surfaced on MTN (A South Korean financial news network). It also claims that the lead developer working on the project has been reassigned. Whether the project will be revived later or repurposed remains unclear, but for fans of the classic MMO, it’s looking like they should give up hope for a completed Final Fantasy XI remake for the foreseeable future. This news is really sad, as the game was starting to look pretty good. Below are some pictures of Nexon’s work on the FFXI remake:
